Contracting an STI can be an upsetting thought, but many infections are easily treated and STI’s are more common than you may think. In 2013, the World Health Organization estimated that nearly 500 million people contract one of these four curable STI’s each year: chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and trichomoniasis.
The most important part of preventing an STI is knowing what behaviors put you at risk and what you can do to decrease those risks. We have put together some great online resources for you to educate yourself about STI’s and how to prevent them. The staff here at Pacific Women’s Center is another great source of information. Feel free to contact us to set up an appointment.
Proper detection and treatment of STI’s is just as critical as prevention. At Pacific Women’s center, we provide discreet, professional testing and treatment for a wide range of STI’s. Tests that are most often performed include screenings for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, herpes, HIV, HPV and hepatitis. We do offer many other tests, so speak with your physician to discuss your needs.
Prevention of sexually transmitted infections and diseases is one of the most important parts of caring for yourself and your partner. If you are sexually active, it is recommended that you get tested each time you switch partners. It is important that your partner gets tested as well. Along with regular testing, open communication about your sexual health with your partner is a great way to stay safe.
Proper prevention, testing, and treatment will keep you and your partner protected. Pacific Women’s Center provides the best education and treatment available. Improving your health and wellness is our one and only goal. So, give us a call at 541-342-8616 to schedule a visit with one of our physicians.
