While it is true that you are the one carrying your baby, it’s important to remember that both you and your partner will be raising your child. It can be easy to get caught up in all of the preparation, appointments, and changes you’re going through. To get the most out of your pregnancy, be sure to find ways to include your partner.
Your spouse wants you to be as comfortable and well taken care of as possible during pregnancy. Give them all the opportunities you can to let them help and be involved in the process.
Take a parenting class with each other during your pregnancy. Not only will it help you feel prepared for raising your new little one, it will also give you some time to be in each other’s company while learning and growing. You might also meet some other expectant parents for future play dates.
Spend time creating your birth plan together. This should include everything from what’s going into your bag for the hospital stay to what type of car seat you need for your new baby’s ride home. This will allow your partner to help you prepare as much as possible and understand your concerns.
Invite them to your appointments. At Pacific Women’s Center, we love to help families grow. We encourage spouses and partners of our patients to attend appointments throughout pregnancy. It also means that you won’t have to remember every detail your physician gives you during the visit; you can rely on your partner to help.
